Franchising’s in the blood for our latest partner

"The energy and communication between everyone is brilliant.”

When Oli Ford began searching for a new franchise, he knew exactly what he was and wasn’t looking for – his parents have been in the sector for years, with multiple brands, and he himself had previously run a franchise!

“My parents have done franchising throughout their lives and careers, so franchising is very much in my blood!” says Oli.

“I’ve got a very strong work ethic, and I believe if you go out, do a great job and look after people, then you have a great foundation to build a solid and secure business. The MWC model really appeals in that way.

“I also get very hot indoors – I have a strange love of running in the rain! So being mostly outside with a My Window Cleaner Franchise really appealed.”

With so much knowledge of franchising, Oli was careful about his investment.

“I had to cease my previous franchise because of the Covid lockdowns, so before investing in another, significant due diligence was my number one priority,” he explains.

“I started by going to the British Franchise Association website to look at ethical franchises.

From there, the more I learned about My Window Cleaner, the more I knew this was the right opportunity for me.”

Highlighting his focus on determining the quality of the MWC model, he called more than just one or two franchisees to check on their experience in the network…

“I rang literally every single franchisee before I invested and couldn’t get any of them off the phone, they were so friendly and enthusiastic!” he says. “It was really important to me to make sure that the network was happy. People were so generous with their time, I took that as a very positive thing, it was really nice.’’

“Everyone said ‘Go for it, follow what you’re being told in training, it works, and anything you need, give me a ring any time’. There’s a large WhatsApp group for everyone. The energy and communication between everyone is brilliant.”

Team Wales

Oli’s franchise is in the centre of Cardiff, and he joins Gareth, John and Owen in a group of franchisees all neighbouring each other around the Welsh capital and Newport.

“We have a ‘Team Wales’ thing going on now on WhatsApp!” says Oli. “I’ve spent time with all three of them, they’re great guys and they’ve been so helpful, on the end of the phone for anything I’ve needed.

“Every step, everyone has been so encouraging. I’m ambitious, I want to go multi-van, and I’m sure I’ve got the brand to do that.”

“MWC has set the standard where you’ve got the branded van and uniform, the communication is exceptional, so customers can think ‘Wow, I can get this level of professionalism from my window cleaner!’

“I’ve got the fire and drive to grow a multi-van business. I’m 27 years old, I want to get out and lead from the front. I want to make everyone around me proud, that’s a big driver for me.

“I can’t wait to get started and grow the business.”
